Drug rehab centers in Mississauga

Mississauga is a city within the Peel Regional Municipality, west of Toronto, Ontario. A part of the greater Toronto area, Mississauga is the sixth largest city in Canada. Its population is close to 700,000.

Mississauga, despite its size is a suburb of Toronto and the two cities are inhabited districts located either on the outer rim of a city or outside the official limits of a city.
Toronto and the two cities' urban sprawls are indistinguishably linked. As Toronto has continued to grow economically, Mississauga has followed suit, building predominately low-density tract housing to attract individuals tired of city life. At the same time, businesses saw the benefits of moving to Mississauga - low tax rates, proximity to a number of transportation routes (air, rail, road), proximity to Toronto, and an abundance of land (at least, at the time) - and it soon became desirable to locate there.

Drug of choice in Mississauga

Mississauga in term of substance abuse is really diversified. It includes Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Marijuana and other substances.

Mississauga, Ont. (CP) - A multi-jurisdiction police operation has busted a "sophisticated" international Drug ring, resulting in the arrests of more than 20 people and the seizure of 318 kilograms of Marijuana.

Officers from Peel regional police and Toronto RCMP broke the ring Thursday, executing 12 search warrants in Peel Region and four elsewhere, Peel police said in a release.

The investigation, dubbed Project Freightliner, began in September 2003 and also involved the RCMP Cornwall detachment, Canada Customs, U.S. Customs, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, and Montreal police.

The investigation targeted a group based in Peel Region which was collecting hydroponically grown Marijuana and distributing it throughout the United States, Peel police said.

"These individuals are at the top of a highly organized and sophisticated ring with profits and holdings in the millions of dollars," the release said.

"The accused were living in large expensive homes and driving expensive cars."

Police said the Drugs were smuggled across the border into the United States through the Cornwall Island area near Cornwall, Ont. The group was estimated to be moving about 450 kilograms of Marijuana a month across the border.

A variety of Methods was used to transport the Drugs, including snowmobiles and boats. Some vehicles were professionally modified with hidden compartments to conceal the Marijuana, police said.

In addition to the Drugs, police seized about $2 million in cash and an estimated $900,000 in jewellery. A number of luxury vehicles were seized, including two Porsches and a Mercedes Benz.

The names of the accused and the charges laid against them were not immediately released.

Mississauga has several government funded Drug rehab centers for Drugs and Alcohol abuse and also private Drug rehab centers.
